Handling Stress
GETTING A HANDLE ON STRESS

To get a handle on stress, we have to begin with the premis that: "There's nothing wrong with stress."

Our bodies have many ways of telling us when there’s too little or too much going on in our lives.  Most people though, choose to ignore what their bodies are telling them.

Is stress bad?  Not necessarily.  Stress can be a good thing.  It helps us feel alive and productive, and it certainly can make life interesting.  What we want to avoid is bad stress – or in other words, finding ourselves in distress.

We can be in “distress” with either too little or too much stress in our lives.

DISTRESS

with too little stress, we are:

Bored

Tired

Unhappy

Restless

Prone to illness

STRESS

with the right amount of stress, we are:

Productive

Energetic

Happy

Creative

Healthy

DISTRESS

with too much stress, we are:

Burned-out

Exhausted

Over-whelmed

Irritable

Prone to illness
